With Forces Help to Buy, service personnel can borrow up to 50% of their yearly salary (up to a maximum of £25,000) interest free to use to buy their home.
It is a government-backed scheme aiming to address the low home-ownership rate within the British Armed Forces.
There is no end-date to this scheme – as of 1st January 2023, it’s here to stay.
Through the Forces Help to Buy scheme, service personnel can borrow up to 50% of their yearly salary (up to £25,000), totally interest free. This money can go towards the deposit or towards solicitor/estate agent fees. In certain circumstances, it can be used to adapt a current property as your family’s needs change. Once the application form has been sent off, the process usually takes around four weeks.
